The idea of Movember is simple: raise awareness of men’s health issues during the month of November by using one of the most macho of all symbols, the moustache, sort of like the pink ribbon during October. The moustache has particular resonance because macho is just one of the reasons men don’t go to the doctor (studies find men who identify as traditionally masculine are 50% less likely to go the doctor than other men, who aren’t very likely to go to the doctor to begin with).
At W29, men are one of the things we love the most, so we’re celebrating Movember by asking four of our favorite photographers – Alisa Connan, Ellinor Stigle, Jakob Axelman, and Will Sanders – to show what Movember means to them. Their portraits feature their own interpretations of the moustache, some inspired by the moustache necklaces of one of our own designers, Demistache, who is also a proud supporter of Movember.
